Uni Release is a concentrated pale amber liquid which turns white when diluted with water produce a chemical release agent combining the outstanding physical release properties of a chemical release agent together with the economy of conventional mould oil. It reacts with the water in the concrete to form a thin water-repellent skin on the surface of the mould, thereby enabling easy stripping from concrete, whilst serving to protect steel and wooden formwork.

Uni Release Uses

For easy and stain free release of concrete moulds and form work of all types except rubber lined forms. Uni Release may be applied on wood, metal, polyester or plywood mould, where excellent surface finish and optimum release are required.

Surface Preparation

Mixing First dilute Uni Release concentrate in the 1 part Uni Release : 5 parts clean water (by volume) container and stirring thoroughly until evenly mixed. If the solution is not used on the same day, it should be stirred again before use and may require very good stirring after 5 days.
Note : Diluted Uni Release will remain stable for at least 5 days and is easily reformed by re-stirring..
New Mould No preparation is necessary although untreated new timber may require two coats. Used Moulds - All traces of cement must be removed together with any surface deposit of previous oils..
Used Moulds Must be thoroughly cleaned and made free from old concrete, dirt, cement laitance, old mould oil and other contaminations. Use a strong detergent for removal of oil and grease; use UNIKLEN for cement and concrete deposits.

Application

Apply Uni Release 1:5 water dilution to the face of the formwork by spray, brush or cloth. Only one coat should be applied as thin as possible except on very absorbent new timber where two coats may be necessary for the first application only and allow to dry. If the formwork is not used for several days, then only a further coat of Uni Release may be applied.

Drying Time

It is essential that the Uni Release coating is thoroughly dried before placing the concrete otherwise, being an emulsion, its performance may be impaired. In conditions of high humidity drying times will be much longer than in warm dry conditions.

Rainfall

It is necessary to protect freshly coated formwork from rain which may dilute the emulsion before it has dried. After drying the coating, it will withstand an occasional light shower but may be affected by heavy or continuous rain. In such cases, a further coat is advised once surface is dried out thoroughly.

De-moulding

De-moulding can be carried out in the normal way and no special precautions are necessary.

After De-moulding

Formwork surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned, but this is normally easy due to the excellent release action.

Before Re-use

The cleaned formwork surfaces must be recoated with Uni Release each time, in accordance with normal practice.

Cleaning

Cleanup … Prior to drying, equipment may be easily cleaned with soap and water. Once dried, use mineral spirits or other suitable petroleum solvent.

Packing : 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 & 200 ltrs. Containers.
2 Coverage : 150 - 160 m per liter (After dilution)

Shelf Life & Storage

Uni Release has a shelf life of 12 months from date of manufacture when kept at a temperature between 5 0C to 45 0C and store in the original, unopened bags. All material shall be stored under cover in a manner that will prevent damage preferable on pallets and protected from excessive heat and moisture. Do not freeze.

Health & Safety

Use Gloves when handling Uni Release. Remove splashes on the skin with soap & water. Avoid contact with eyes and accidental contamination should be washed thoroughly with plenty of water and medical treatment sought immediately. Ensure good ventilation and do not smoke during use. Flash point 60 ºC.
